Cars have been submerged in water after heavy rainfall battered the streets of a Scots town last night.
Residents on Kilmacolm Road in Greenock, Inverclyde, woke up to their vehicles sinking into flood water thought to be around one meter deep. Images from the scene show four cars affected by the adverse conditions as the street is pictured swamped by the downpour.
It comes as the Met Office issued a danger to life weather warning for parts of Scotland. An amber alert is in place for heavy rain in areas including Dumfries and Galloway as well as the Scottish Borders.
And weather warnings for rain, snow and ice have also been issued for other parts of the country. Weather forecasters have warned residents to expect around 40-50mm (up to 2 inches) of rain around the area.
A yellow warning for rain is in place in much of the central belt and southern parts of Scotland. Some roads and railways will be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
The danger to life warning will be in place until 2pm today with yellow alerts remaining in place until 9pm. Motorists have been warned to expect potentially difficult driving conditions.
Elsewhere, Scotrail routes have been cancelled due to tracks being swamped from the downpour. Flooding has led to several closures across major routes within the central belt.
All services on the North Clyde route, which connects Glasgow to the West of Scotland, have been cancelled. Images show the tracks at Bowling in West Dunbartonshire swamped from inches of water.
All services between Dalmuir, Helensburgh and Balloch have been axed as a result.
In the East Coast, Scottish Water has issued flash flood warnings for Dundee, Perth and Fife. Locals have been warned to expect sewage flooding and surface water while a number of roads are closed or restricted due to the rain.
