Actor Leslie Phillips has died at the age of 98.
Leslie, who was famed for his roles in the Carry On films, died “peacefully in his sleep” on Monday, his agent Jonathan Lloyd confirmed.
He appeared in a number of Carry On films including Carry On Nurse, Carry On Teacher and Carry On Constable.
Leslie spent eight decades in the spotlight and became well known for his suggestive catchphrases which included “Ding Dong”, “Well, hello” and “I Say!”.

The veteran actor first appeared on the West End stage at the tender age of 14 and since then appeared in hundreds of TV, film and radio shows in a career that began in the 1930s.
In later life he more dramatic roles and starred in a BAFTA-nominated role opposite Peter O’Toole in 2006’s Venus. Leslie was also known as being the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter films.
Phillips also fought in World War 2 from 1943 as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal artillery.
He was made an OBE in the 1998 Birthday Honours and was promoted to CBE in the 2008 New Year Honours.
Actor Sanjeev Bhaskar has paid tribute to Leslie Phillips following his death age 98.
Bhaskar tweeted: “One of the wonderful elements of doing #TheKumars42 was combining guests like here, Madness and the wonderful #LesliePhillips, who couldn’t have been more of a gent.
“A truly warm, funny and gentle man #RIPLesliePhillips.”
