Pat Carrigan insists he and in-form prop Payne Haas must be better as another Brisbane forward admits coach Michael Maguire "poked the bear" on their failings.
Carrigan and Haas have been the standout performers this season up front but the fifth-placed Broncos must go up a gear against competition leaders Canterbury at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night.
Maguire was critical of the side's lack of physicality in the round six 26-16 loss to the Sydney Roosters. They backed that up with a 20-18 defeat at the hands of the Warriors.
"Madge probably sort of poked the bear a bit after the Roosters game when he said we weren't physical enough to start," prop Corey Jensen said.
