Caroline Polachek forced to cancel Parklife appearance after her flight was cancelled

A second artist has been forced to pull out of this year’s Parklife festival in Heaton Park after their flight was cancelled.

Caroline Polachek, who fronted indie pop band Chairlift and released her third solo album Pang to critical acclaim in 2019, had been due to perform on the festival’s main stage in-between appearances from Arlo Parks and Lewis Capaldi later today.

The singer tweeted this morning to apologise to fans who were hoping to see her. In the tweet, Polachek said: “Manchester ::: due to flight cancellations, i’ll sadly no longer be able to make it to @Parklifefest to perform today. i’ll see you Oct 29th at Albert Hall.”

The singer's appearance has now been removed from the Parklife app, with some main stage performances being extended slightly as a result.

PinkPantheress, who had also been scheduled to appear today, was forced to cancel her appearance earlier this week after struggling with 'hearing difficulties'. The 20-year-old singer from Bath said she was unable to perform 'on doctor's orders'.

However, despite the two cancellations, music fans attending today's Parklife will still be treated with a plethora of acts - even if the weather might not be in tip top condition. House Gospel Choir, RAYE, Jessie Ware, Tyler, The Creator, Bicep and Megan Thee Stallion are just some of the names who will be taking to the stage throughout the day.

The first day of Parklife yesterday saw more than 80,000 festival-goers take to Heaton Park to celebrate a day of music and fun. Saturday’s line-up featured a range of artists, including Loyle Carner, Gorgon City, Chase & Status and Jamie xx.

Headliner 50 Cent, who was said to have arrived in the ‘ biggest convoy in the festival’s history’, performed a number of hits including P.I.M.P. and Candy Shop as he ended the night in style.

Two fans also took to the stage during Yung Filly’s performance as they got engaged in front of a cheering audience.
