Caroline Calloway Refuses To Evacuate During Hurricane Milton Despite Living In Evacuation Zone

Caroline Calloway the infamous scammer / influencer — has raised eyebrows after announcing to her 672K followers that she will not be evacuating her home, despite living in Florida which is considered a mandatory evacuation zone amid Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene.

“So if you’ve been following Hurricane Milton, um, I’m going to die,” Calloway said in an Instagram Story.

“It’s supposed to make landfall in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. I’m in Sarasota, I live on the water. It’s a zone A, mandatory evacuation,” she said.

“I can’t drive, first of all. Second of all, the airport is closed,” she added.

“Third of all, the last time I evacuated for a hurricane, I went to my mum’s house in Northport for Hurricane Ian … Her whole street flooded and we were evacuated after three days without power or running water by the US military,” she said.

“It was very traumatic and so I don’t want to evacuate to my mum’s house because the last time I did that, it was the worst time ever!”

Calloway then insisted that she would be staying at home with her cat and preparing to weather the storm by filling the bathtub with “backup water.”

“We have food but it’s kind of scary,” she said, adding: “I’ll keep you guys updated.”

The influencer then shared a video of Tampa Bay Mayor Jane Castor informing residents who don’t evacuate that they “will die.”

She also posted a pic that shows the view of the ocean from her home, noting that she was “a little concerned”.

Calloway later took to X to double-down on her decision to take shelter at home rather than evacuating.

“I’m not evacuating for the hurricane. I live in Sarasota, on the beach, in evacuation zone A,” she said.

“For more great advice, buy my second book! It’s called Elizabeth Wurtzel and Caroline Calloway’s Guide to Life. It’s about to come out if I survive! It’s an advice book 😉 Cute!!!!!”

Using a deadly hurricane to market your book is certainly… a choice.

In a subsequent Instagram Story, Calloway wrote: “If I actually die in this storm, my books are going to go WAY UP in price. Order now,” along with a link to the book, under the tag: “My legacy.”

You truly cannot make this shit up.

Scores of folks have taken to social media to discuss Calloway’s reckless decision-making:

After making fans wait for years, Calloway finally released her book Scammer in June 2023 and is now gearing up to release her second book.

Given that unsavoury marketing methods are Calloway’s bread and butter, it’s no surprise that she’s usurping a deadly hurricane to shill her books.

On a serious note, thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by Hurricane Milton.
