Carol Vorderman shares health update after quitting radio show following hospital scare

Carol Vorderman has shared a major health update following a medical scare.

The presenter, 63, revealed she has stepped down from her LBC radio show after suffering from “burnout” which left her spending a night in the hospital.

The former Countdown star admitted to overworking herself, having worked seven days a week for several weeks.

She described the incident as a “warning sign to slow down slightly” but has now shared that she is doing “fine.”

However, she acknowledged that she needs to slow down for the sake of her well-being.

Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, she said: “I’m quite fine, I had all the checks and everything, but I can’t work seven day weeks anymore, so I’m going to centre on social media a lot more in the future rather than travelling up to London all the time.

“I now switch my phone off for 12 hours a day. Like physically off. Tends to be over the night time hours,” The Morror reported.

“But it’s quite a good thing, you know when you just have it by the bed and you just reach out. I’ll just have a little look… Ahh, two hours later.”

On Friday, Vorderman took to her social media to announce that she was quitting her LBC radio show.

She shared on her Instagram: “Hello, I’ve got some news to share with you.

“After working 7-day weeks for as long as I can remember, I finally burned out just over two weeks ago and I ended up overnight in hospital.

“Luckily, after many scans and checks, we know that I don’t have any underlying health issues whatsoever.

“So, after a proper talking to from my family and my buddies, I’ve taken the health scare as a warning sign to slow down slightly and have decided to cut my work back to weekdays for now.”

The TV star added that she was sad to leave her slot and added: “It pains me to have to do it, but I’ve decided not to carry on with my Sunday show on @LBC.

“I’m fed up that I’ve had to make the decision, as the show’s been really lively and a total joy, with so many new callers from around the country and growing numbers of listeners.

“The good news is that I’ll still be part of the LBC family (they’re a good family) from time to time - so stand by for more details. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to cause trouble and carry on tuning into LBC too.”

Vorderman went on to thank her listeners and the team at LBC for their support.

She continued: “Thank you once again for your extraordinary support and to all my new friends at LBC - you've been amazing.

“I'll be continuing to make a lot of mischief and call out corruption and wrongdoing - that isn't stopping but for now an ever so slightly less frenetic chapter begins. Love ya”.
