Carol Vorderman is ripping up the rulebook as she continues to lead an "exciting and adventurous life" as a single woman in her 60s.
The former Countdown co-host, 62, defies her age with her immaculate skin and incredible figure due to her daily workout routines and takes that mentality into dating.
Carol, who was on the hit Channel 4 quiz show for over 26 years, has been married on two occasions, with Christopher Mather - a Royal Navy officer - which lasted just one year between 1985 and 1986.
She remarried in 1990 to management consultant Patrick King and had two children; daughter Katie, 30, and son Cameron, 25, but the couple separated in 2000.
Carol had dated sports reporter Des Kelly for five years in the early 2000s but she admitted she enjoys the less stressful life of dating.
Speaking to Fabulous magazine, she opened up about having multiple 'special friends' and the "nonsense" of having to get married from an early ages - something she experienced growing up.
The TV star said: "I am a great proponent that if women choose to not get married or they want to be with someone for a limited period of time, they can now.
"I might have a boyfriend who only lasts a few months. I call them 'special friends'. People may have other terms for them
"I’m not going to tell you all the details, but one of my ‘friendships’ has gone on for 11 years. And I have one ‘special friend’ in America. Sliding into DMs is not how I operate, but if people want to do that, that’s up to them.
"I have a very full, happy, exciting and adventurous life. And it makes me laugh every day. It’s ridiculous and it’s fantastic."
Carol has been brazen about dating several men at one time and previously discussed this when appearing on Michelle Visage's latest Rule Breakers podcast episode on Tuesday.
She said: "I'm having the best time. I've spoken about this once. I have a system which I've had for 10 years. They're called 'special friends'.
"I spoke a couple of months ago about having 'special friends' and it was like, again, the world had fallen in for some people but actually what I found was there was an awful lot of women who said 'I'd never thought about it like this'."
