Carol Vorderman praised for blunt relationship advice to woman who's been single 26 years

Carol Vorderman has been praised for her relationship advice as she played an agony aunt on This Morning. Carol joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on the ITV show and took calls from viewers with romantic problems.

One woman, Helena, said she had been single for 26 years. She explained she is 56 and was very nervous as the last time she had a relationship there were "no mobile phones, or social media".

She explained that she has been a single mum for 26 years, and put her son first during that time. The 62 year old told Helena that she needs to get ready to be rejected, reports The Daily Record.

She said: "You don't have to find someone to love, you have to find some way of being happy and you can be happy without one person, you can be happy all sorts of ways. If you do want a partner it's about having to have the courage to go 'I don't mind being rejected' and that's a big stage and a lot of people are worried about rejection.

"It's a fear that paralyses people so in a sense you have to get over that. Say to yourself 'I'm going to go on a website or whatever, I'm going to accept six rejections this week'.

"And then celebrate it, have a drink once it happens and say 'hey, I'm still alive'. Once you get over that you can focus on your happiness."

In awe of her response, Dermot said: "Carol, you're like a prophet".
