Carol Vorderman praised after helping to rescue stranger on mountain hike

Carol Vorderman became wonder woman this weekend after coming to a stricken man's aid on a mountain hike.

The former Countdown star, 61, helped the man after he accidentally locked his keys in his car during his jaunt in the Brecon Beacons.

Tyrone Coburn took to Facebook to thank the maths whiz as she shared a snap of him relieved alongside her after getting back in his car.

He wrote: "Locked my keys in my car today after walking the horse shoe in Brecon.

"Had no signal to phone AA and this kind lady CAROL VORDERMAN came to my rescue and gave me a lift to the nearest village so I could ring them, what a lovely lady she is.

Carol re-shared the grateful post with her 218k Instagram followers.

She captioned the screen grab: "Awwwww. I was wandering around the Beacons yesterday and chatting to an ex teacher who was manning one of the car parks for @breconbeacons.

"Then Tyrone and his two friends came over and said that he'd locked his keys in his car. Problem was he would have to climb back up a mountain for a signal to ring the AA or walk 5 Miles to the nearest village....

"Er Hello....time for a lift."

She continued: "He made me laugh tho cos we were chatting away in the car and it was only when I took my sunnies off that he recognised me.

Two frights at once. Seeing it was the old numbers bird off the telly and it was her without make up as well!!!!"

And she concluded by saying she was glad he was home safely and was happy to have helped.

She received a number of likes and comments on the post, including from former Steps star, Ian 'H' Watkins, who wrote: "Not all hero's [sic] wear capes."

Another follower commented: "A humble & very kind thing to do."

Fans were quick to praise Carol for her actions (instagram.com/carolvorders)

And a third said: "Fair play Carol… such a lovely gesture from you to someone in need…"

Last month Carol paid a sweet tribute to her mum ahead of Mother's Day.

Carol's mum died in 2017 and five years on she took to Twitter to write: "Mothers Day 2017. Mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer a week before.

"So I got a beautiful room in ⁦@ivycliftonbrass⁩ for all of us to celebrate her. Mum had lived with me & worked for me since the 1980s. 24/7 it was always us. She died 2 months after this photo."
