Speculation has been rife amongst Countdown fans about who might replace presenter Anne Robinson, who announced that she was stepping down from the role after one year. In a message to fans, she told them of her intention to spend more time with her grandchildren, in the garden, and at her home in New York.
Some of the names to have been named rumoured as possible replacements include Romesh Ranganathan, Fiona Bruce, Paul O'Grady, Dermot O'Leary and Jon Richardson.
However, one of the names to have been floated as a possible presenter is a particularly familiar face to anyone who watches the show - Carol Vorderman, who co-presented the word-and-number-based game show for twenty-six years.

According to The Mirror, Vorderman is the bookies' second favourite to take over the role after Ranganathan, with odds of 4/1.
What has Carol Vorderman said about a Countdown return?
The Pride of Britain Awards presenter has now broken her silence on the matter. Initially, she tweeted her support for retiring host Robinson saying, "Awwwww.....lovely Countdown Hope you enjoyed it immensely Anne", followed by several heart emojis.
As speculation has started to build about her possible return, she again took to Twitter to say: "Thank you to all of you saying such lovely things about a possibility of me returning to Countdown."
"You're very kind & it would be an honour but I want to wish whoever is the lucky human to be the new host all the love and 9 letter words in the world #CountWell#HappyDays."
However, whether Channel 4 are prepared to give up and take no for an answer so soon is yet to be seen, with The Sun reporting a TV insider as saying: "Carol is such a big part of Countdown and Channel 4 know how much everyone loves her."
"Bosses would love her to come back as the main host, her Countdown journey would come full circle. It would be perfect."
Fellow quiz show host Victoria Coren Mitchell is one of the famous fans to tweet her support for Vorderman's return, describing her as an "excellent choice."
