Carol Vorderman has been called "bonkers" and compared to Tom Cruise after taking a trip on the world's fastest and Europe's longest zip line. The Countdown legend has been spending a lot of time in her native Wales recently, relaxing with family and friends and keeping active by paddleboarding and walking along the dramatic coastline.
After taking part in some pretty gruelling Bushtucker Trials in scenes that aired on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa earlier this year, Carol rose to another challenge that would surely turn the stomachs of the fainthearted. Last week, the 62-year-old, who lives in Clifton, took to the skies as she visited Zip World in Llanrwst, Wales.
During her visit, Carol bravely conquered Velocity 2, the record-breaking zip line that takes daredevils on a 1.5km flight over the stunning blue waters of Penrhyn Quarry lake in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, reaching speeds of up to 120mph. Carol also had a go at Aero Explorer, a rollercoaster-like zipline that spins visitors around on a high-speed journey across the quarry, showcasing scenic views of the surrounding landscape.

Regular This Morning guest Carol shared some thrilling clips of her day out at Zip World, including one of her screaming whilst being flown through the air at more than 100mph. "ZIP WORLD DAY OUT," she captioned the post.
"Loved this.... I had such a laugh with the gang in Snowdonia. The world's fastest zip line up to 120 mph and the 'sling you around' Aero Explorer.
"Love a scream and a laugh. Great day out thank you #gifted"
In the comments, Carol's fans were astounded by her bravery, as her trip to the Snowdonia site was certainly not for the fainthearted. "Love you," said Carol's fellow I'm A Celebrity... South Africa campmate Helen Flanagan, whilst Gillian McKeith simply commented: "Wow."
"Beauty Brains & Bonkers," one fan wrote about Carol.
"You must have nerves of steel doing that zip wire..." said another.
A third commented: "Does Tom Cruise know he's got competition?"
Soap star Helen recently admitted that she "misses" her jungle "mother" Carol after the pair bonded in the South African camp. The spin-off series was filmed in the Southern Hemisphere in September 2022, shortly after Helen split from her fiancé, Bristol Rovers winger Scott Sinclair.
Helen decided to still wear her engagement ring during filming as she "didn't want to talk about it". Although, the mum-of-three has since said that Carol was a "mother figure" to her as she navigated a tricky new chapter in her life.
