Carol Vorderman is celebrating 40 years on television today (November 2). The Countdown whizz first appeared on the Channel 4 show in 1982.
The 61-year-old Clifton resident posted on social media to wish herself and Channel 4 a happy birthday.
In a video posted on Twitter, she said: "Happy birthday to me! 40 years on the television - who'd have thought it?

"My first appearance was on Countdown doing the numbers. Countdown was the first show on Channel 4 - November 2, 1982.
"So, happy birthday Channel 4 and, of course, happy birthday Countdown. All of us are 40-years-old today."
The former I'm a Celeb star appeared on Countdown for 26 years before parting ways with the show in 2008. Throughout her long career, she made around 10,000 appearances on different TV shows.
Vorderman took to Twitter to throwback to her debut in 1982. She shared a picture of herself with the late Richard Whiteley.
The post read: "On @BBCr4today TODAY Programme after 8.30 this morning talking 40 years of Channel 4 and Richard and I making the first show ever to be broadcast on the "new channel"....1982....heck."
