Carmen Electra and Jenny McCarthy wow fans as they model swimwear for Skims

Carmen Electra and Jenny McCarthy have reunited for a new advertisement campaign, which has been met with praise over a photoshoot promoted on social media.

The two models - who both rose to fame in the '90s and posed for Playboy during that decade - feature in the new campaign for Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand Skims.

They are seen modelling various pieces from the brand's latest swimwear collection in the ads, alongside taglines such as: "Everybody's wearing SKIMS this summer".

Carmen, 51, and Jenny, 50, took part in a photoshoot for the campaign, with photos and footage from it having now been shared on social media to promote the collection.

The pair are seen sporting a few different outfits in the photos, including a "swim triangle top" and "tie bottoms" which are priced at £38 and £36 each respectively.

Carmen - whose career has included roles in Baywatch and Scary Movie - models a t-shirt and bikini bottoms from the range in one photo, whilst posing with an ice cream cone.

Jenny - who's a judge on The Masked Singer US, after having fronted her own sitcom and talk show previously - poses wearing a bikini tank top and bottoms in another.

The photoshoot has been showcased on social media with captions like: "It's a wet hot SKIMS summer! [Carmen and Jenny] know how to make a splash in our signature Swim".

As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the brand said it wanted to "celebrate" the impact Carmen and Jenny - who have worked together in the past - had on pop culture.

Skims said it wanted to "celebrate the impact these women had on pop culture and their timeless appeal, reminding the world that confidence and sexiness cannot be confined".

The campaign has attracted much attention and prompted praise on social media, with numerous people having described it as "iconic" following the launch this week.

"This has got to be the best promotion campaign," wrote one person. Another said: "Another genius campaign". Whilst a third person wrote: "This marketing is amazing".

Sharing their thoughts, another response read: "Definitely you're best campaign yet [Skims]". Whilst someone else said: "Love the campaign". Another person wrote: "Obsessed".

Others complimented Carmen and Jenny - who both ventured into acting following their modelling careers - in response to the swimwear campaign's recent photoshoot.

"They look phenomenal," wrote one person. Another said: "These two ladies look freaking amazing". Whilst a third wrote in the comments section: "Absolutely beautiful".

Another teased: "Omg are we still in the 90s?! They look exactly the same!" Others felt similarly, with one person writing: "I seriously thought this was a throwback [photo]".

And although some people expressed hope for more diversity in subsequent campaigns, others suggested that the models were empowering those of a certain age.

"Changing the narrative for 50s," wrote one person in the comments section of one post on the platform. Another said: "These women proved that 50 is f***** fabulous".

Carmen and Jenny have worked together in the past too, with them having both appeared in the film Dirty Love (2005). The pair played best friends in the rom-com.

They were both hosts of the dating game show Singled Out, though at different times. Jenny was a host from 1995 to 1997, with Carmen then taking over for a year until 1998.
