Carlos Torres Explores Sexual Impotency in Telemundo's 'Sed de Venganza' Before Reprising His Role as Charly Flow - INTERVIEW

In Spanish

Carlos Torres, one of the most prominent Colombian actors in Spanish-language television, delivers an outstanding performance as Gabriel del Pino, his latest character in the Telemundo telenovela "Sed de Venganza."

Internationally known for his iconic role as Charly Flow in the hit telenovela "La Reina del Flow," Torres has solidified his career by taking on deep and complex roles. However, his most recent challenge—playing a man who suffers from sexual impotence, a dissatisfying marriage, and family issues that push him to his emotional breaking point—might be one of the most intriguing yet.

Torres is no stranger to complex characters, but he admits that his role in"Sed de Venganza" has forced him to explore new limits. In an interview with The Latin Times, the actor discussed the challenges of bringing Gabriel to life, a man struggling with deep insecurities caused by the lifelong abuse by his father and his sexual impotence.

The plot, filled as telenovelas do, with family betrayals, shady business dealings, and toxic personal relationships, drives Gabriel into an emotional downward spiral that's hard to control.

"Gabriel's impotence makes him very insecure in all aspects of his life," Torres explains. "He tries to hide it, even pretending nothing is wrong in front of his wife, but ultimately, this denial costs him his relationship and his mental health." The vulnerability of this character is something the actor describes as central to Gabriel's story arc. Torres says, "He just can't handle the pressure."

In addition to dealing with issues at work and a complicated relationship with Fernanda (Isabella Castillo), Gabriel del Pino also battles a marriage that is in trouble partly due to his bedroom issues. This detail plays a crucial role in the story, and Torres masterfully portrays the vulnerability of a man trying to hide his issues at all costs.

"Gabriel has many insecurities. The impotence consumes him, but instead of facing it, he blames others, including his wife (Fefi Oliveira), leading him to an emotional dead end."

The actor also mentioned that preparing for this role involved researching how real people cope with this issue and how their pride and desire to maintain a "strong man" image prevent them from seeking the help they need. "It's a topic that still causes discomfort in today's society, but it's important to talk about it," Torres emphasized.

Toxic Masculinity

Torres has come a long way since his early days on Colombian television, and "Sed de Venganza" showcases his growth as an actor. In addition to his scenes with Fefi, many of his moments on screen are shared with Isabella and Saúl Lizaso, who plays his character's father.

Alfredo del Pino is manipulative and controlling, further aggravating Gabriel's emotional turmoil. This toxic relationship also influences his erratic decisions throughout the series.

"Filming with Saúl was an incredible experience," Torres shared in another interview. "Even though our characters had a tense relationship, we had so much fun in real life. Saúl has an amazing sense of humor."

Charly Flow and the Anticipation for 'La Reina del Flow 3'

Although Carlos Torres is currently focused on his role in "Sed de Venganza," fans can't help but wonder about the return of Charly Flow, his character in the hit series "La Reina del Flow." We asked him about it.

While Torres didn't reveal specific details, he expressed his excitement for the third season.

"We're in the process. While several people have already mentioned the news, I'm still going through that phase. But as I've always said, it's a joy and a privilege to please all the fans eagerly awaiting this third season with so much love."
