Carlo Ancelotti has sent a heartwamring message to the family of Everton fan Mark Cruise after he sadly passed away.
During the first coronavirus lockdown, in March 2020, the then-Blues manager phoned the supporter in a video that thousands loved watching on social media.
Mark was suffering from motor neurone disease and received the surprise phone call as part of Everton's Blue Family project, which looked to keep isolated fans connected during those tough months.
After hearing that Mark had sadly passed away, Ancelotti took to Twitter to share a heartwarming message to fans and to his family.
He wrote: "I was very sad to learn that my Everton friend Mark Cruise passed away.
"I will always remember fondly our amusing exchange during lockdown in Liverpool. My condolences to his wife Laura and family.
"RIP Mark."
Throughout the four-minute conversation in March 2020, the pair talked about their time away from Goodison Park, Netflix recommendations and even what Ancelotti should be referred to.
The boss said: "I am not Mr, I'm Carlo and that's it!
"Usually in Italy, Mr is a man of great importance - I'm not so important! I'm just a manager."
