Carlo Ancelotti faces scathing criticism despite Real Madrid exploits - "really lucky"

Carlo Ancelotti has been labelled as "really, really lucky" despite his Real Madrid side advancing to the Champions League semi-finals.

The Italian watched on as his side beat Chelsea on aggregate, despite losing on the night at the Bernabeu. At 3-0 down they were heading out of the competition, but Rodrygo's strike took it to extra-time before Karim Benzema's strike sent them through.

In the round of 16 Ancelotti's Los Blancos outfit needed Benzema's brilliance to haul them out of a hole once more. Trailing 2-0 on aggregate to PSG, the Frenchman scored a second-half hat-trick to see off the Ligue 1 side despite Madrid's below par showing.
