Carlo Ancelotti agrees with Frank Lampard on Todd Boehly verdict ahead of Chelsea vs Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti has provided his verdict on Real Madrid president Florentino Perez coming to the dressing room after Chelsea's Todd Boehly spoke to the squad following defeat to Brighton. On Saturday, the Blues co-owner was spotted trudging across the pitch, alongside Behdad Eghbali and Hansjorg Wyss, heading for the tunnel and subsequently the home changing room.

Some of the details over exactly what happened in the Stamford Bridge bowels came to light on Monday as the Telegraph revealed Boehly delivered a pre-Real Madrid rallying call. With three consecutive defeats coming in the last 10 days, Boehly was also critical of the squad labelling their season as "embarrassing".

With press conferences for Frank Lampard and Kepa Arrizabalaga coming just a few hours after the report, Boehly was a firm topic of discussion. "Todd came to the changing rooms, every game, he had different chat with us," Kepa said when asked about what Boehly did over the weekend. "I'm not going to say what he said but it's normal when he came to the changing room."

Understandably, Lampard was also asked about Boehly delivering a speech in the dressing room, where his response was fairly concise . "I am comfortable with that," Lampard said. "There is maybe some criticism of our old owner of not coming to games and being around that wasn't always true.

"I remember moments as a player of owners first coming into dressing rooms, I remember being happy. I don't think it's a bad thing. I had my things to say, an owner wants to come in and be positive and speak to the player, they can do that. No problem with that, it shows passion and that's the first thing that I like."

Lampard and Kepa weren't the only individuals asked about Boehly's decision to go into the dressing room as it was also discussed in Carlo Ancelotti's press conference. The Real Madrid manager was asked for his verdict on that occurring as he was presented with the hypothetical scenario of Perez coming into the dressing room, with the 63-year-old agreeing with Lampard's reaction.

"I think it could be an important motivation for the players," Ancelotti responded. "Chelsea is not in a good situation and to have the support of the club could inspire the player and to play better. I think it is a good mood to do this and if the club want to come to talk to the players I have no problem.

"If he wants to talk to me every game I am pleased because I think the owner has the right to know the decisions of the manager. It is the right of the club to know what the manager does."
