Carl Froch reignites Conor McGregor row with "rice pudding" response to video

Carl Froch has again poked at rival Conor McGregor by mocking his recent training footage as he continues to train for a UFC return.

The legendary former boxer infamously claimed that McGregor "couldn't punch the skin off a rice pudding" in an interview earlier this year. The clip was brought back to the fore when the UFC star slammed him as he was working the broadcast for Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua's world heavyweight title rematch.

Both men took to Twitter to air their grievances, with Froch seemingly responding during the broadcast, likely while there was a break in the studio show. He has now returned to the well in an effort to wind up McGregor again, rehashing his original comment in a new tweet.

In response to a McGregor training video ahead of his return to action, Froch posted a message that read "Couldn’t punch the skin off a rice pudding!" It was the same comment that enraged the Irishman earlier this month, with McGregor writing on August 20 "That Froch tick, little scrawny pencil neck... I’ll grab his head and twist it clean off at a oner with my bare hands. Little wally of a thing. I’ll slap you around you little toffee nose tosspot."

Froch hit back with a tweet of his own on the day, saying "Who is this mouthy little pr*** talking to? I will drag you outside with that wispy beard & show you how the big boys do it!!" Having made his name as a multiple-weight world champion at super-middleweight, which is essentially welterweight in MMA circles, Froch and McGregor may have made an entertaining fight six years ago.

The original Froch interview was a segment on Joe.co.uk where he was discussing his interest in MMA as a sport. He rubbished McGregor's ability to punch after watching his fight with Floyd Mayweather, which enraged the Irishman enough to engage on social media.

"McGregor can't punch, he couldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding," Froch said. "I was there when he fought Floyd Mayweather - Conor McGregor is a big name because he's got the mouth and he's got the charisma.

"I'm just sort of getting into mixed martial arts now, my knowledge isn't [great]. I watch a fight and I won't know who I'm watching but I have to watch it back again. It gets brutal in there at times and I've got a lot of respect for these fighters.

"We wear gloves in boxing, 10oz gloves and they wear little hand mitts. Alright, they're not massive punchers, some of them can punch, don't get me wrong, but they kick you in the face. They knee you in the head and do these spinning kicks.

"Then they get you on the floor, get you down there and f*** you up. They mess you up, they get you in some headlock and your arm. I admire these guys and I respect them."
