Cargo Plane Crashes Near Vilnius Airport, Rescue Efforts Underway

DHL planes on the tarmac in Wilmington

An incident involving a cargo plane has occurred near Vilnius Airport in Lithuania, as confirmed by an airport spokesperson on Monday. The crash took place outside the airport premises, specifically near Zirniu Street, south of the capital, at approximately 5:30 a.m. local time.

Emergency response teams, including the city's special services and the Vilnius Airport Fire Service, are actively engaged in rescue operations at the crash site. Due to the ongoing rescue efforts, departures for multiple aircraft have been delayed, although all scheduled flights are currently departing from Vilnius Airport.

Reports from a reputable news agency suggest that the cargo plane involved in the crash belonged to DHL, a well-known logistics company. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding any casualties resulting from the incident at this time.
