Test wicketkeeper Alex Carey posted a quickfire half century in one of the few highlights as South Australia were bowled out well inside 50 overs in the One-Day Cup match against Tasmania in Brisbane.

Tasmania's Tom Rogers took career-best figures as South Australia were dismissed for 220 off 44.1 overs at Allan Border Field.

Carey cracked 59 off just 45 balls, including nine fours and a six.

South Australia, who impressed in an opening win against Queensland on Monday, lost batters at regular intervals after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Nathan McSweeney (29), Jake Lehmann (34) and Ben Manenti (20) all failed to build after initially settling in.

Rogers was the undoubted star of the Tasmania attack with the allrounder generating significant swing and seam to return 5-32 from his 10 overs.

Rogers had Carey caught behind with a superb delivery and also claimed the key scalps of captain Travis Head (7) and reliable opener Jake Weatherald (8).

Riley Meredith returned 2-46 and Peter Siddle picked up 1-26, while another former Test paceman, Jackson Bird, was named 12th man ahead of a second match for Tigers on Friday.
