Carers of West Lothian pay tribute to volunteers during Carers Week

Carers of West Lothian are marking Carers Week by highlighting some of the tremendous work done by volunteers at the charity.

Carers Week runs from June 5-11 with this year’s theme being ‘recognising and supporting unpaid carers in the community.’

The organisation has provided support, information and representation to unpaid carers and disabled adults across West Lothian for the last 30 years.

Fiona Allan of Fiona Allan Reflexology has recently joined Carers of West Lothian (CoWL) a volunteer, giving both her time and expertise as a reflexologist.

She joins Stephanie Brown of Stephanie Brown Massage Therapy, and Jemma Kay in offering complimentary therapies aimed at improving the well-being of unpaid carers.

Jemma is also a reflexologist and Stephanie is a massage therapist who has been providing seated massage to unpaid carers and disabled adults for the last seven years.

CoWL Alison Wright CEO paid tribute to the trio, saying: “We are really grateful when volunteers like Fiona, Stephanie, and Jemma volunteer their time to provide some much-needed respite and “me-time” for unpaid carers.

“An important part of what we do at Carers of West Lothian, in helping people continue to care for loved ones, is to encourage carers to look after their own health and wellbeing.

“Being able to offer these therapies alongside everything else we do; ensures we offer support in a variety of different ways to meet everyone’s needs.”
