In the Arizona Cardinals’ 27-16 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday at Soldier Field, the defense was on the field for 70 snaps.
Four players were on the field for all 70 defensive snaps.
How was the playing time divided up?
Below are the individual snap counts for everyone who played, grouped by position.
Defensive line
Dante Stills, 44; Roy Lopez, 41; Kevin Strong, 40; Jonathan Ledbetter, 34; Naquan Jones, 21
It is odd to see Ledbetter play less than only Jones, although the difference between him and Stills, who played the most, is 10 snaps.
Outside linebacker
Zaven Collins, 41; Dennis Gardeck, 34; Cameron Thomas, 30; BJ Ojulari, 30; Jesse Luketa, 21
Collins left the game with a foot injury and still played the most. Thomas played a lot in Victor Dimukeje’s absence. He only played four snaps against the 49ers. Luketa played more than he normally does. It was his season high.
Inside linebacker
Krys Barnes, 69; Owen Pappoe, 35; Tyreek Maddox-Williams, 5
Barnes played all but one snap. Pappoe, a rookie, got the start, the first of his career, and saw the most action of the season. Maddox-Williams must have gotten Pappoe’s old role in the five-linebacker passing down formation.
Cornerback
Antonio Hamilton, 70; Starling Thomas, 70
With Garrett Williams out with a knee injury, safety Jalen Thompson went back to defending the slot. They only used the two corners and did not rotate at all. Marco Wilson and Kei’Trel Clark only saw action on special teams.
Safety
Budda Baker, 70; Jalen Thompson, 70; Andre Chachere, 41; Qwuantrezz Knight, 4
Those four snaps were the first four on defense for Knight this season. Thompson played primarily in the slot on Sunday with Chachere playing free safety.
