Cardinals trade away another starter for a Day 3 pick swap

The Arizona Cardinals continue to be busy reshaping their roster in a way that might mystify both their fans and pundits around the league. Hours after trading away 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Simmons to the New York Giants, the Cardinals have traded a third-round selection from that same draft.

This time, it’s offensive tackle Josh Jones, who is headed to his hometown Houston Texans. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cardinals are sending Jones and a seventh-round pick to Houston in exchange for a fifth-round pick. The year of the draft selections is not yet specified.

Jones started nine games at left tackle for the Cardinals in 2022 after playing in all 17 games, including 12 starts, between right guard and right tackle in 2021 in Arizona. In 2022, Jones earned a PFF score of 75.8 — the highest grade of any Cardinals offensive player.
