We are officially in the offseason of lists and rankings. Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar recently ranked the top cornerbacks in press coverage. Nobody on the Arizona Cardinals made the cut, which is not a surprise. Their cornerback room is mostly rookies and second-year players.
They have Sean Murphy-Bunting, but the other players competing for playing time this offseason are Garrett Williams, who played half a season as a rookie in 2023, Star Thomas and Kei’Trel Clark, who were rookies last year, and 2024 draft picks Max Melton and Elijah Jones.
But the Cardinals will face some of the top press coverage corners. Check them out and read Farrar’s full post to know why they are the best.
Sauce Gardner, New York Jets
The Cardinals will face Gardner and the Jets in Week 10 at home. He ranks No. 5.
Charvarius Ward, San Francisco 49ers
Ward is No. 8 on this list. The Cardinals will face him twice, first in Week 5 in the road and then in Week 18 to end the regular season at home.
Deommodore Lenoir, San Francisco 49ers
Ward’s teammate comes in at No. 9. The Cardinals face him and Ward twice in 2024.
Pat Surtain II, Denver Broncos
Surtain is No. 4 on this list. The Cardinals will only kind of face him. They play the Broncos in the preseason finale, which means he probably won’t play.
