The Arizona Cardinals are losing defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter for the rest of the season to a knee injury, they are adding reinforcements to the defensive line.
They announced a few roster moves ahead of practice on Wednesday.
While Ledbetter is expected to be placed on injured reserve, that has not happened yet.
Here is what they did with the roster.
DL Leki Fotu designated to return
Fotu has been on injured reserve since November 21. He broke his hand and, after an initial report he might not have to miss any time, he had surgery and was placed on IR.
By designating him to return, he is able to practice and can be reinstated to the active roster at any point in the next 21 days.
It would not be surprising to see him activated this week to play against the Eagles.
DL Phil Hoskins signed to active roster from practice squad
Hoskins, who has been on the practice squad since the beginning of October, now is on the 53-man roster.
He was elevated three times from the practice squad to play. In those three games, he has had six total tackles in 77 defensive snaps.
DL Jacob Slade re-signed, LB Caleb Johnson signed to practice squad
Slade is back on the practice squad. He signed as an undrafted rookie out of Michigan State and has been on and off the practice squad.
Johnson entered the league in May with the Jets as an undrafted rookie free agent from the University of Miami. He has spent time on the practice squads of the Jets and Steelers this season. Johnson played one season at Miami after spending two seasons at UCLA. He appeared in 30 games in his college career and had 137 tackles (76 solo), 7.0 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, two interceptions, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
