The Arizona Cardinals were wheeling and dealing during the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. After moving from the third overall pick to No. 12 overall and trading up to the No. 6 overall pick, they made their selection.
They drafted Ohio State tackle Paris Johnson Jr.
Johnson was a two-year starter for the Buckeyes. He started at right guard in 2021 and left tackle in 2022.
Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray wanted the Cardinals to draft Johnson.
Johnson is 6-foot-6 and 313 pounds.
In an interesting connection, Johnson’s father, Paris Johnson was drafted by the Cardinals in the fifth round in 1999.
He potentially can come in and start for the Cardinals, perhaps at right tackle.
In general manager Monti Ossenfort’s first draft with the Cardinals, he has addressed the offensive line.
