The Arizona Cardinals can’t seem to stay out of the news cycle. The latest news is about some more legal issues. Running backs coach James Saxon is facing two domestic battery charges in Indiana, reported ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss.
One is a Level 6 felony charge.
The Level 6 felony charge (the least serious in Indiana) comes with a sentence range of six months to a 2.5 years in prison and a potential fine of up to $10,000. The other charge, a Class A misdemeanor, has a sentencing range of up to a year in prison and a potential fine of up to $5,000.
He allegedly got into an argument with a woman at a Costco in the Indianapolis area on May 7. It continued at the woman’s home, where Saxon allegedly pushed her several times in front of her two children. One push caused her to fall into the garage door.
He was arrested in June and released on $2,000 bond. He was given a GPS monitoring device but it removed July 21 when the Cardinals rookies reported to training camp.
He has an attorney conference August 25 and a trial date can be set then.
Per Weinfuss, the team “is looking into the matter.”
