The Arizona Cardinals released their finalized preseason schedule last month and, initially, none of the games were to be nationally televised. That has changed.
The NFL announced that 23 preseason games would be televised live on NFL Network and one of the Cardinals’ games makes the cut.
Their preseason opener at home against the Denver Broncos will air on NFL Network at 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. Arizona time), which is when the game kicks off.
It will be one of 10 preseason games aired live that first week of the preseason.
It will not be an NFL Network crew calling the game, but rather the home team broadcast simulcasted on NFL Network.
As a result, while it will be aired nationally, it will be blacked out in the Cardinals’ and Broncos’ local markets. Why? So the local television broadcast gets the eyeballs, as that local station paid for the rights to broadcast the game.
Cardinals fans can watch the game on free, over-the-air television on Channel 12 KPNX-TV in the Phoenix area. Their preseason games will also air in the Tucson area on KTTU and KMSB, as well as in Albuquerque on KOAT.
