The Arizona Cardinals announced a few roster moves Friday as they wrapped the final practice of the year, leading up to their final game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at home.
They moved two players to injured reserve, made a surprise cut and signed a player to the active roster.
OL D.J. Humphries, DL Dante Stills placed on injured reserve
Humphries tore his ACL in the Cardinals’ win over the Eagles last week. Stills also injured his knee.
We do not know the extent of Stills’ injury.
DL Kevin Strong released
In what is a surprising move, they released Strong. It is a surprise because he played pretty well this season and because they simply are short on defensive linemen.
Now they only have three defensive linemen on the roster, although Leki Fotu could come off injured reserve.
Strong had 46 total tackles and 2.5 sacks on the season.
CB Divaad Wilson signed from practice squad
Wilson, who has played in two games this season and even started once, was signed from the practice squad to the active roster.
This might be a move to ensure he is with the team in the offseason.
Practice squad players have their contracts expire and often they re-sign futures deals, but perhaps the Cardinals wanted to make sure he was on the team to start the offseason.
With Garrett Williams ruled out, Wilson will at least give depth for the season finale.
