Cardinals move up in power rankings despite loss, Kyler Murray injury

The Arizona Cardinals fell to 4-9 on the season on Monday, falling 27-13 to the New England Patriots. They also lost quarterback Kyler Murray for the remainder of the season when he tore his ACL on the third play in the game.

However, in new power rankings from Touchdown Wire’s Mark Lane, somehow they manage to move up.

They went from No. 26 to No. 25 in spite of another loss and the crushing loss of Murray.

The disappointing part of the Cardinals’ 2022 season is it feels like the end of an era, but when exactly was the era? Arizona may themselves amid a soft rebuild in the offseason as the Kliff Kingsbury experiment hasn’t net them the success they thought. Get ready for more Colt McCoy, too, as Kyler Murray left Week 14 with a non-contact knee injury.

Big decisions are coming this offseason for the Cardinals. Do they continue with the current coaching staff and leadership? Do they reload and try again?

What will they do at quarterback while Murray recovers from his torn ACL?

But as to the rankings, it doesn’t make sense. The Cardinals are as lost and hopeless as the Houston Texans.

They face the 3-10 Denver Broncos this weekend. If  they can’t beat Denver, they surely will find themselves dropping next week.
