With every big NFL trade, the NFL draft is affected. The latest trade to affect the first round is the deal to send Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins.
The Chiefs now have two consecutive picks at the end of the first.
How will that affect the Cardinals? In NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s latest mock draft, coming after the Hill trade, they are still able to nab a first-round receiver.
They land Arkansas receiver Treylon Burks with the 23rd overall pick.
The Cardinals lost Christian Kirk in free agency, and Burks could slide right into that role.
The Cardinals do need a receiver and he has size (6-2, 225 lbs) but is not super athletic. He had 66 receptions for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2021 for the Razorbacks. Since he was used in a variety of ways in college, he might come along a little slowly if the Cardinals use him mainly as a ‘Z’ receiver, but he is big, physical, strong and makes plays.
He would complement DeAndre Hopkins and Rondale Moore on the field.
In this scenario, they would be passing on Boston College Zion Johnson.
