The Arizona Cardinals announced the hiring of new general manager Monti Ossenfort earlier this week. He was introduced to the media and team owner Michael Bidwill detailed how the hiring process went.
He interviewed seven candidates and three of them were internal candidates.
It was known that vice president of player personnel Quentin Harris and vice president of pro personnel Adrian Wilson, both of whom had been working together to fulfill general manager duties during Steve Keim’s leave of absence.
However, a third candidate was a bit of a surprise. Bidwill said he also interviewed director of football administration Matt Harriss.
Harriss has been in the organization since 2019 in the same position.
Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how many of these internal candidates remain with the organization after getting passed up for the job.
