The steady fall of the Arizona Cardinals’ second first-round pick in the 2024 draft ends. They own the Houston Texans’ first-round pick because of a draft-day trade last year.
The Texans lost in the divisional round of the playoffs, falling 34-10 to the Baltimore Ravens.
As a result, their pick will not be lower than No. 27.
It could be as high as No. 25.
If the Green Bay Packers beat the San Francisco 49ers or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Detroit Lions in their playoff matchups, the Texans’ pick moves up to No. 26, and if both the Packers and Bucs win, the pick goes up to No. 25.
It is still far lower than expected.
The Texans were projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL before the season began. Many felt it would end up a top-five selection.
However, they won 10 games and, on the last week of the season, won the AFC South and made the playoffs.
The Cardinals have the fourth overall pick in the draft and then the Texans’ selection.
