Cardinals could play a Wednesday Christmas Day game this season

The Arizona Cardinals played a game on Christmas Eve in 2023 and had Christmas Day games each of the two previous seasons. Despite Christmas Day falling on a Wednesday in 2024, the NFL announced it would have a pair of games on the holiday.

How would that work?

Well, by Week 16, the league begins to have some games on Saturdays in addition Sundays, as the college football regular season is over.

Week 17 would kick off with two Wednesday games featuring teams who played on Saturday. That way, it would be like having played on Sunday and then playing on Thursday, which happens weekly.

With the Cardinals’ competitive finish in 2023 and a healthy Kyler Murray, the Cardinals could be a team targeted to play on national television, especially if they end up with a player in the draft like Marvin Harrison Jr.

The NFL won’t likely release the 2024 schedule until May, so for now we can simply look at the calendar and either hope the Cardinals play that day or that they don’t.
