Cardinals bring in veteran OT Cameron Erving for tryout

With tackle Jackson Barton suffering a toe injury in Sunday’s game against the Lions, the Arizona Cardinals continue to look at available players.

Veteran tackle Cameron Erving had a tryout Monday only 10 days after being released from practice squad injured reserve by the Houston Texans.

Erving (6-5, 313) entered the NFL as a first-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2015 and played two seasons for them before moving on to the Kansas City Chiefs for three seasons, the Dallas Cowboys for one, the Carolina Panthers for two and he played three games with two starts for the New Orleans Saints in 2023.

In those nine seasons, Erving played a total of 98 games with 58 starts.

He became an unrestricted free agent last March and was signed by the Texans on Aug. 3 before being released Aug. 27 and signed to the practice squad the following day.
Right tackle Kelvin Beachum was inactive for Sunday’s game after suffering a hamstring injury in practice last week. Jonah Williams is on injured reserve because of a knee injury suffered at the end of the first quarter of the season opener. He would be eligible to return to practice after Week 5, but his injury status is unknown. Rookie tackle Christian Jones suffered a knee injury in the final preseason game and was placed on injured reserve. He was on the side working out during practice last week and is eligible to return to practice next week.

When Barton left the game Sunday, he was replaced by Charlie Heck. In 12 quarters this season, the Cardinals have already used four players at right tackle.
