Cardiff Triathlon 2022: All the road closures in the capital this weekend

The Cardiff Triathlon returns this weekend, with hundreds expected to take part and even more set to line the streets to cheer on their family members, friends and colleagues. The sold-out event is being held in Cardiff Bay on Sunday, June 26 and will see competitors pass a number of local landmarks as they run, bike and swim their way around the challenging course.

The event is open to all abilities, with those taking part able to choose the distance they cover. From the 'Super-Sprint' course, which involves a 400m swim, 9.3km cycle and 2.5km run right up to the gruelling 'Legend' event, which sees competitors swim 1,900m, cycle 88km and run 21.8km, there is something for everyone.

Also being held at Sunday's event is the Cardiff World Triathlon age group qualifier, with competitors racing to earn themselves a place on the start line for the 2023 World Triathlon Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championship. An event village is also being set up in Cardiff Bay ahead of the race, with music, shopping, food vendors and chill out zones all on offer to keep spectators entertained.

Inevitably, the event route means that a number of roads in the area will be completely closed off to cars in order to allow the race to run smoothly and keep competitors safe. Get the latest news from across Cardiff sent straight to your inbox for free by signing up to our newsletters.
