Cardiff Market is to re-introduce its 'night market' with late-night opening hours. The event first launched in July 2019 but was put on hold due to coronavirus restrictions. Now, the venue has now announced its evening event is set to make its grand return later this month.
Cardiff's indoor market, on St Mary Street, which usually closes at 5.30pm each evening will stay open later than usual, welcoming shoppers until 9pm. It is currently unknown whether the late night event due to be held on Thursday May 26 will be a one-off.
The market is home to dozens of stalls which sell everything from fruit and vegetables, fresh lunch options to clothes and household objects. There is also a wide selection of hot food vendors also operating out of the market, such as Ffwrnes Pizza, and the recently -launched Pierogi. It has not yet been confirmed exactly what stalls and food vendors will be taking part in the event, however, it is likely that the market will operate in a similar capacity to its daytime trading.
The late night opening of Cardiff Market coincides with a separate announcement in April that the popular Riverside Market, which is held along the River Taff on Fitzhamon Embankment, will launch a monthly 'night market'.
The market will take place on the final Wednesday of every month, featuring a wide range of traders from across the city, and will be open for business between 5pm and 8pm on the Fitzhamon Embankment. The popular Riverside Market can normally be found on the Fitzhamon Embankment opposite the Principality Stadium between 10am and 2pm every Sunday.
