New arrival prompts fresh Drameh questions
Cardiff City have confirmed right-back Vontae Daley-Campbell as their sixth summer signing.
The 21-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Bluebirds following his recent release from Leicester City, after spending a chunk of last season on loan at Scottish side Dundee.
Speaking about what the former Arsenal youth star would bring to the table, boss Steve Morison said: "We're really excited. We wanted lots of options and he's a really interesting young player.
"He comes with really good pedigree. He needs to make the most of his attributes and hopefully we can help him do that.
"Every single person who has walked through the door wants to be a part of it. It's going to go a long way for us."
The move could finally spell the end of Cardiff's pursuit of Cody Drameh, who joined the club on loan from Leeds United last January.
Morison made no secret of the fact he would have liked Drameh back in the Welsh capital this summer, but the arrival of Daley-Campbell could well end any lingering interest.
Cardiff pass on Smith
Cardiff City have reportedly passed up the opportunity to sign Rotherham United striker Michael Smith.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Cardiff were offered the chance to sign the 30-year-old, who's out of contract this summer.
However, City have decided against bringing Smith on board, and are now pursuing other targets.
Smith has also been heavily linked with a move to Hull City this summer.
Flint completes Stoke move
Former Cardiff City centre-back Aden Flint has completed a move to Championship rivals Stoke City.
The 32-year-old was released by the Bluebirds earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract in the capital, and has now signed a one-year deal with the Potters.
He said: “I’m delighted to get it over the line, it’s been in the pipeline for a few weeks now.
“I obviously spoke to the gaffer while I was holiday, and I’m just delighted to be able to get it done.”
Assistant manager Dean Holden added: “We are delighted to get him through the doors. He’s a player who has been mentioned over the last couple of transfer windows, so to get it over the line and sorted in time for pre-season we are really pleased.”
Reading still in talks with Laurent
Reading are still in talks with Josh Laurent over a new deal, despite interest from Cardiff City this summer.
As first revealed by WalesOnline, the 27-year-old is a figure of keen interest for the Bluebirds as Morison looks to rebuild his midfield options ahead of the new season.
It's understood the Bluebirds are not the only side to have taken an interest, although the Royals clearly remain hopeful that he might be tempted to stay on.
