Cardiff City transfer news as club told what they need to sign and Leeds United after another right-back

Here are your Cardiff City transfer headlines for Tuesday, May 31.

Ledley: Cardiff need experience but Morison will get it right

Cardiff City need to add Championship experience this summer but Steve Morison will get the recruitment right, Joe Ledley has told WalesOnline.

The Bluebirds have added four new players to their ranks this term, however none of them have any Championship games under their belts. Jak Alnwick does have six Premier League appearances from his Newcastle days, however.

With 10 players currently running out of contract this summer, Cardiff have a huge void to fill when it comes to bringing in players with second-tier experience. And Ledley, who was speaking to WalesOnline about the launch of his new football academy, believes Morison will get the requisite calibre of player in this summer and emulate his impressive feats from the January window.

"He has come in and had a very difficult job after Mick," Ledley said. "I thought he recruited very well in January. I thought he signed some good players.

"The job was to stay in the league and he achieved that. It'll be interesting to see what he does now. He has got a few players in but there won't be much budget there. I'd like to see more experienced players coming in to help these young players.

"It's like Wales, you've got to start looking at Rubin Colwill, Isaak Davies to produce. Because they are great young players coming through and it's great to see that, because Cardiff have struggled since myself, Aaron Ramsey and Chris Gunter left.

"It'll be an interesting one for him and I'm sure he'll make the right signings, like he did in January."

Leeds target right-back despite Drameh return

Leeds United are targeting the signing of another right-back despite Cody Drameh's return from his loan at Cardiff City, The Athletic report.

Drameh won the Bluebirds' Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards despite playing only half a season in south Wales, however he was certainly deserving of the accolades.

He told WalesOnline that being assured of game-time at Leeds next season is really important., saying" if I'm not promised game-time then I don't really want to be waiting around". He also did not rule out a return to Cardiff next season.

And now, The Athletic claim that Jesse Marsch wants to bring in another right-back owing to injuries pertaining to Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas. They state that Leeds are monitoring RB Salzburg defender Rasmus Kristensen, a 24-year-old Denmark international.

Marsch worked with Kristensen for two years at RB Salzburg, from whom they signed midfielder Brenden Aaronson last week.

Quite where that would leave Drameh is up in the air, especially when Ayling and, a little further down the line, Dallas return from injury. The report adds that Leeds are keen on Aberdeen’s 18-year-old prospect Calvin Ramsay, but he is wanted by Liverpool and may favour a move to Anfield.

Either way, it might just force the 20-year-old Drameh, who has two years left on his deal at the Yorkshire club, out the door once again.

Ex-Cardiff boss candidate Beale to join rivals

Former Cardiff City manager candidate Michael Beale is set to join the Bluebirds' Championship rivals QPR, according to The Telegraph.

Beale was a real consideration for Cardiff following the sacking of Mick McCarthy back in October. Beale, who was assistant manager at Rangers at the time, was in the middle of negotiating a move down to Aston Villa to assist Steven Gerrard when he learned of Cardiff's interest.

And it was down to Morison and Beale at one stage, however Cardiff went for the former and the rest, they say, is history. Now, Beale, who cut his teeth in Liverpool's academy before heading out to coach in Sao Paolo, looks as though he will be in the opposite dugout next year at Loftus Road.

Mark Warburton left QPR at the end of the season after his contract was not renewed. His team had finished 11th in the Championship, winning just two of their final seven matches.

Pelts waves goodbye to Boro

Ex-Cardiff favourite Lee Peltier has bid farewell to Middlesbrough after he was not named on the club's retained list for next season.

Peltier went to Teesside to link up with former Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock up at the Riverside and played a big role for Boro last term, turning out 26 times in a number of positions. He even scored one of the penalties in that famous FA Cup win over Manchester United back in February.

And now the defender, 35, is a free agent and looking for another club ahead of the new season.

"Just want to say a big thank you to Boro and all the fans, had a fantastic year at the club and appreciate all the support from the fans and staff," he wrote on Twitter.

"Wish you all the best and hope you get to where you belong! Again thanks for everything, Pelts."
