Cardiff City transfer news as chairman reveals Aaron Ramsey stance and Steve Morison says deals are 'in the pipeline'

Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Friday, July 29.

Chairman's verdict on Ramsey

Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman was quick to temper any expectation surrounding Cardiff and Aaron Ramsey.

As widely reported all summer, Cardiff were interested in signing Gareth Bale and Dalman himself has spoken about just how close they came to doing that, which you can read more about here.

And now former Bluebird Ramsey is a free agent after his release by Juventus. While Dalman, of course, said he would welcome him with open arms at the club, he said no talks have taken place with the former Arsenal midfielder.

"We are open," Dalman told A.C.E Podcast Nation when asked about Ramsey. "[Bale and Ramsey] are two exceptionally talented players. Given our position and our status, we would welcome either of those players if we had the opportunity.

"But as of this moment we have had no dialogue with anybody other than Gareth."

Morison: Transfer work 90 percent done

Steve Morison does not believe there will be any transfer action in the very near future, however he does believe the work in the window is 90 percent done.

Morison revealed he has spoken to targets and told them he wants them at the club this season. Mehmet Dalman has said they are in talks with players and could even fork out a transfer fee for one particular target.

But the manager is aware of the fact that the window still has over a month left to run and is happy with how his squad is shaping up heading into the opening weekend.

"We are in the pipeline for a few to increase competition within the group," he told the BBC on Friday morning. "Then we will see how the land lies with players going out. If anyone does go out it will be for development reasons and the right reasons.

"Nothing is going to happen in the short term. I think there are eight league games and a cup game, possibly two, and I'm glad to have got 90 percent of the business done before going into August."

When asked specifically about strikers, he added: "No. We have out and out strikers in our team. We would only be looking to strengthen in that area to increase competition. We have got irons in the fire, as the chairman spoke about, but as he mentioned and as I have mentioned before, a lot of it is out of our hands and a waiting game now.

"The players who we spoke to know we would like them to come and join us, but it is out of our hands now."

Ralls: I couldn't imagine myself playing for another club

New Cardiff City captain Joe Ralls said he "couldn't imagine" playing at another football club after penning a new two-year deal with the Bluebirds.

Ralls has been at the club 11 years and save one season out on loan to Yeovil Town, he has been at Cardiff City Stadium all that time. It was never really in doubt, he said, that he would sign a new deal. In fact, he said he couldn't even picture himself playing anywhere else.

"I've absolutely loved playing for this football club. It's been amazing and we have had some great times," Ralls said.

"I just couldn't imagine myself playing for another football club. This season, going into it, I just wanted to come back here and continue on this journey I've been on here.

"I'm just really happy to get it done and be back around the lads and to keep playing here."

Peltier signs for Rotherham

Former Bluebirds defender Lee Peltier has signed for Championship side Rotherham United.

The 35-year-old left Middlesbrough at the end of last season and has linked up with Paul Warne, who was a former team-mate of his at Yeovil Town 15 years ago.

"I played with him and I always thought as a manager that if I could ever sign him then I would," Warne said.

"I know exactly what he's like - I've seen him in the dressing room, in the tunnel, on the pitch. I've seen him in the worst moments when the team are losing and he's a leader, a fighter, a scrapper, a very good footballer."

Pundit predicts a Bluebirds win

Former Nottingham Forest and Southampton midfielder turned Sky pundit David Prutton believes the Bluebirds will come out on top against the Canaries on the opening day of the season.

Prutton, who thinks it'll be a 2-1 win for the hosts, wrote in his prediction column : Cardiff boss Steve Morison has been given plenty of room to manoeuvre in the transfer window this summer and he has brought in 10 players as a result, only two of whom have commanded transfer fees. I’m really intrigued as to how the Bluebirds are going to get on in Morison’s first full season in charge.

“Norwich, meanwhile, have looked pretty sharp in pre-season and prioritised attacking reinforcements, with Isaac Hayden and Gabriel Sara sure to offer them a new look going forward. I have to say that I can’t see past Cardiff for this one, though it could well be tight.”
