Cardiff City transfer news as Bluebirds and Huddersfield to miss out on midfielder and Dean Whitehead asked Dele Alli question

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City headlines for Wednesday, January 18.

Ronan set for MLS move

Wolves midfielder Connor Ronan is set to seal a move to Colorado Rapids, amid alleged interest from Cardiff City and Huddersfield.

Despite a transfer embargo rendering a move to south Wales highly unlikely, the Bluebirds were linked with the 24-year-old last month, with Huddersfield Town also mentioned as a possible suitor.

However, the Daily Telegraph has since revealed that Ronan is instead closing in on a move to MLS.

He came off the bench against Brighton in early November for his Premier League debut, and started against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup recently.

However, he has, by and large, found opportunities limited under new boss Julen Lopetegui, with further midfield arrivals further pushing the Irishman out the door.

Whitehead asked on Alli

Cardiff City's interim boss Dean Whitehead has suggested he wouldn't close the door on former colleague Dele Alli if the former Spurs star sought his guidance to relaunch his career.

The former England international worked with Whitehead at Turkish giants Besiktas, and has found life tough since in the Turkish Super Lig.

Asked by the Express if he'd maybe try to tempt the forward to south Wales, he said: "Have you got a spare £100k a week?

"Seriously, if that’s the level that Dele needs to regain his confidence and form, I don’t think he’s someone who would turn his nose up."

Bamba admits interest in Cardiff job

Cardiff City legend Sol Bamba has gone public on his links with the Bluebirds job.

City sacked Mark Hudson on Saturday following a disappointing 1-1 draw with bottom club Wigan Athletic, leaving the club looking for their third manager of the season.

A host of names have already been put forward to succeed Hudson in the Cardiff dugout, with former centre-back Bamba among them. You can read live updates here.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Wednesday morning, Bamba couldn't hide his affection for the club he served with such distinction for years.

He said he'd love to help the Bluebirds one day adding it was not his place to say whether he was the right man to rescue them from relegation danger.

"Everyone know how much I care for the club and the fans, and I live in the area," he said. "I would love to work for the club one day. Is the time right now? It's not for me to say."
