Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman says talks will open "imminently" with Sabri Lamouch about him leading the Bluebirds again next season.
Dalman is keen for Lamouchi to stay on board after what he describes as "mission accomplished" with the threat of relegation to League One having been eased.
The Cardiff chief was due to speak to Lamouchi in the aftermath of the 2-1 home loss to Huddersfield to thrash out the way forward. He thanked Lamouchi, assistant Sol Bamba and the other staff, as well as the players, for the work they had done in spearheading Cardiff's recent revival.
Lamouchi is aware of the restrictions Cardiff might have to work under next season, with a transfer embargo in place, but he appears keen to tie down a new deal.
"Sabri is very open and communicative," said Dalman. "It's fair to say we'll be talking imminently. I'm very impressed with him, he's a proper manager. I'm hopeful he will stay, there's no reason to believe his thoughts will be any different to ours."
Dalman explained the final say would be down to Cardiff's billionaire owner Vincent Tan. "That's only right as our major shareholder," said Dalman. "But when we asked him to step up and get Sabri on board, he did exactly that which was the right thing for the football club."
