Cardiff City's Sabri Lamouchi delighted with 'massive' Blackpool result but reveals why he remains disappointed

Sabri Lamouchi spoke of his delight over Cardiff City's "massive result" against Blackpool but admitted he was disappointed with his team's performance in the 3-1 win.

City blew Blackpool away in the first half with goals through Connor Wickham, Sory Kaba and Joe Ralls, however they struggled to really impart themselves on proceedings after the break.

And while the three points, at this stage of the relegation fight, is a huge positive for Cardiff, Lamouchi was left a tinge disappointed over his team's overall application.

"I'm really happy," he said. "A massive result. To come here in this situation and win in this stadium in this way, against a team behind us, a really important game for them.

"Especially after the last result, the derby, the cruel finish. We didn't start so well, it was very strange, we scored three goals, so clinical in the first half.

"In the first half. We scored three goals, were so clinical in the first half. In the second half, we didn't control the game.

"To be honest, I'm so happy with the massive result, but about the performance I'm not so happy. But in our moment, in our situation, like I said to the players, it's three points. Now we have to think about Monday and Sunderland."

Wickham was the main catalyst for Cardiff's early dominance, scoring one before setting up the other two.

It was the perfect end to a turbulent week for the striker, who angered many fans by posting a video which appeared to show him inhaling laughing gas after the 3-2 defeat by bitter rivals Swansea City.

But he atoned for his mistake in the best way possible as he left the pitch with City fans chanting his name and requesting an ayatollah, which he duly did.

"I don't want to talk again about the stupid things he has done," Lamouchi said of Wickham. "He knows that, he's a man. He is a professional and he should be professional. He made a stupid mistake and apologised to the fans, players, staff, me.

"We don't have a lot of options, so this was something special, but I prefer to focus on football, because when I came two months ago, the situation was critical.

"This place was not easy to come and win in this way. Congratulations for the team. Now we need to get some rest tomorrow. And on Monday we will enjoy Easter time with our fans and hope it will be another great result.

"I am so happy for the massive result but I'm not so happy for the way we play and the personality we put on the pitch with the ball.

"But I saw determination and desire to keep the result and fight, this was very positive."

The win puts Cardiff into 19th, with just one point separating them and the three teams below them, although they do have a game in hand, ahead of an Easter Monday meeting with Sunderland.

On the relegation picture, the Bluebirds boss added: "Fortunately we won, we have three more points. We need to have some rest and think about Sunderland.

"It will be a tough month, but it will be tough not only for Cardiff but all teams, because to play seven or eight games in one month is just... wow. Unbelievable."
