Cardiff City player ratings as Perry Ng shines in new role and youngster has best game in a Bluebirds shirt

Dillon Phillips 8

Made two brilliant saves in the first half, one from Liam Thompson and a better one from Tom Lawrence.

Curtis Nelson 7

Rarely put a foot out line. In fact, he went under the radar a little, which suggests he had a pretty solid game.

Aden Flint 7

Same as above, really. The stand-in captain for the day also made some crucial interventions from Derby corners.

Oliver Denham 6

Made a couple of really important last-ditch challenges, but lost a couple of important aerial duels. Hooked for Colwill at half time.

Cody Drameh 8

A quiet-ish start for the right-back but really grew into it. Didn't see too many of his marauding runs early on but the first he went on played a part in Hugill's goal. Defensively solid enough.

Ryan Wintle 7

Buzzed about and went about his work, as we have become accustomed to. Misplaced the odd pass but otherwise another positive display from the midfielder.

Perry Ng 8 (star man)

In a new position and comfortably City's best player on the day. He was everywhere on the defensive side of things in that midfield and also showcased some lovely footwork and passing at times.

Eli King 8

His best game in a City shirt. Looked a lot more confident throughout and added a bit of energy to the midfield. Made Hugill's goal by rounding the defender and goalkeeper before setting up the striker for a tap-in. Taken off after the hour.

Joel Bagan 6

A microcosm of his season, really. Did well defending the dangerous Malcolm Ebiowei but just needed to add that bit more zip going forward.

Jordan Hugill 7

Did well to hold-up play throughout the match and give City a platform. Also took his goal very neatly - a solid outing from the front man.

Mark Harris 6

Made himself a bit of a nuisance at times, but rarely found himself in a goalscoring position. Nothing too glamorous from the forward but a decent enough showing.

Subs

Rubin Colwill (Denham 45) 6 - Went on a few nice runs with the ball at his feet and had a part to play in the setup for the goal.

Isaak Davies (King 62) NA - Only on for 16 minutes and had to go off injured.

Max Watters (Davies 78) NA - Came on when City were defending late on, had little chance to influence going forward.
