Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Thursday, March 2.
Steve Morison linked with Oxford United
Former Cardiff City manager Steve Morison has been linked with the vacant post at League One Oxford United.
The Bluebirds parted ways with the manager in September after he undertook a colossal squad overhaul last summer, bringing in 17 new players. Despite positive signs, Vincent Tan pulled the trigger with the club languishing in 18th place in the table. Now, of course, they find themselves in 21st.
Morison has previously stated he had caught the management bug and Football League World claim he is interested in the position at the Kassam Stadium.
The Us, who have former Bluebirds Ciaron Brown and Josh Murphy in their squad, parted company with Karl Robinson at the weekend after he spent five years in charge. Former Cardiff striker Robbie Fowler, Grant McCann and Michael Appleton are all above Morison in the bookmakers' odds list.
Ebou Adams out for the season
Sabri Lamouchi has ruled Ebou Adams out for the remainder of the season. The Gambia international midfielder ripped his pectoral muscle off the bone in a pre-season match before having an operation on his knee before Christmas. It was initially thought that he would be back training with the squad last month, but now it looks like he will spend his entire first season in the treatment room.
"I don't think so, he is probably out for the rest of the season," Lamouchi said when asked if Adams would play for Cardiff this season. "There are just 12 games left to play, so I don't think [he will play]."
It is a crushing blow for the player and supporters who want to see him in a Bluebirds shirt, no doubt, with the club believing him to be a key signing early in the summer. However, next season, at least, he will feel like a new addition.
Barnsley boss: Watters 'a bit behind'
Barnsley boss Michael Duff has revealed that Max Watters is "a little bit behind" the other squad members after an injury before his three-match suspension. Watters, on loan from Cardiff, has missed the League One club's last three matches after receiving a straight red card after scoring against Cambridge United on February 11.
However, Duff said Watters hurt his toe and might now have to wait to get back into the side again.
“What people won’t know is that he [Watters] has only actually trained this week," Duff said. "Just before he got sent off, he hurt his toe and had actually gone a couple of weeks without training. So he’s a little bit behind again.
“He’d worked so hard getting himself up to speed to be ready for 90 minutes and he’s got himself out of the team and now might have to wait a little bit. If we can harness that so when he gets on the pitch, he gets on in a positive way, then we believe he’s got quality.”
Goalkeeper coach search on hold
Cardiff's search to replace Graham Stack has been put on the backburner, according to Sabri Lamouchi. His first act as City boss was to remove Stack from his post before stating that he would search for a replacement at the earliest convenience.
Academy coach James Wood, son of ex-Bluebirds keeper George, has been acting up since Stack's departure and has actually been quite a vocal and physical presence within Lamouchi's technical area. It appears Lamouchi is happy with the make-up of his backroom staff at the moment, with a keeper coach low down on his agenda.
"For the moment, I am focusing on our players and to find a solution to score!" Lamouchi said. "So, a goalkeeper coach is not the priority right now."
