Cardiff City headlines as Man Utd starlet makes transfer admission amid Bluebirds link and Wayne Rooney makes plea for season finale

Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City headlines for Monday, May 2.

Levitt open to Dundee United return

Wales star Dylan Levitt has suggested he would be open to a return to Dundee United this summer amid links with Cardiff City.

Reports have suggested the Manchester United midfielder is one of several players on the radar in the Welsh capital, ahead of what promises to be a busy summer. Levitt has become something of a fans' favourite at Tannadice on the back of a reasonably successful loan spell, and his future is very much up in the air given his contract at Old Trafford is up this summer.

Quizzed on a possible return to Scotland, the 21-year-old said a decision on his next move would likely be made in the next couple of weeks or so.

“It would be good to come back here but I’ll have to see what happens next season with the talks and stuff," he told the Scotsman. “The talks should be in the next couple of weeks but I haven't heard anything yet. I think in the next two or three weeks they have to say or contact me.”

McManus shines at Cardiff City Stadium

Declan McManus was on target for The New Saints as they eased to a 3-2 over Penybont in Sunday's Welsh Cup final at Cardiff City Stadium.

A quickfire double from Jordan Williams in the first half set Saints on their way before McManus added a third from the spot. Penybont fought back with two goals late on, but the Cymru Premier champions held on for the win.

McManus ends the season with 31 goals to his name, a tally which has seen him catch the attention of several sides, including Cardiff. The Bluebirds have been keeping tabs on the 27-year-old for the last few weeks, although it's unclear whether they have any intention of firming up their interest. Indeed, it's understood the club may continue to watch him during the upcoming Champions League qualifiers this summer.

Sang committed to St Johnstone survival bid

Tom Sang says he is determined to ensure St Johnstone are still a Scottish Premiership club when he heads back to south Wales this summer.

Saints remain in danger following a disappointing defeat to St Mirren at the weekend, but Sang says there is still plenty of confidence that they can avoid the drop come the end of the season.

“On a personal note, I want to leave this club with it still in the Premiership,” said Sang. “I want a really good end to things. I’m part of the team. It’s not a case of me just coming here to develop my career on loan.

“I want to help us do it for the lads and the staff. There’s definitely the quality in our changing room to make sure we do.”

Rooney eager for Rams to end season on high against Cardiff

Wayne Rooney is hoping for a positive end to Derby County’s eventful season next weekend.

Derby will sign off their Sky Bet Championship campaign against Cardiff at Pride Park, with both sides having precious little to play for. The Rams have already been relegated to League One, while the Bluebirds have confirmed their Championship status for another season after a disastrous start.

Nevertheless, Derby boss Rooney believes it's important for his side to end the campaign on a high. "We will prepare right for next week, which is the last game of the season,” he told RamsTV. “I hope as many fans as possible come down and support the players in that last game.

“Hopefully we can get the three points to finish the season off and everyone will enjoy a well-earned rest. It was important to reward the fans with a win at Blackpool, the support all season has been magnificent. We’re proud of them for supporting us all over the country this year and at home, so want to end the season with a positive result.”
