Former Cardiff City playmaker Lee Tomlin is training with National League side Wrexham.
Tomlin has been without a club since leaving the Bluebirds by mutual consent back in October, but could now be poised for a sensational return to Welsh football.
It's understood the 33-year-old is set to spend the next couple of days with the Dragons, who could well be looking to strengthen their bid for a top five finsh and, ultimately, a return to the EFL.
The club have big plans for the future since being taken over by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney last February, and Tomlin could well be a figure of interest following his exploits in the Championship.
The forward is training with Phil Parkinson's men today and tomorrow, but it seems there is a long way to go before Wrexham make any sort of concrete contract offer.
Tomlin's career at Cardiff was largely punctuated by injury and off-the-pitch problems, but he was a key part of Cardiff's charge to the play-offs under Neil Harris in 2020, netting eight goals and producing 10 assists along the way.
In a candid post on social media recently, Tomlin vowed to get back to his best and fight to get his career back on track.
"In the past few months I've been waking up like it’s an accident," he wrote on Instagram.
"I’m back on this and getting to the place where I was two years ago.
"Life is full of ups and downs that’s part of life, but dealing with it is a different matter.
"We all deal with it in different ways, so I dealt with it by getting fit for the first time in my life properly and mentally I was a machine.
"But over the last two years I've gradually gone back to my old self and I don’t like it and only I can change that.
"So what I’m trying to say is do what YOU want to do in life that makes you happy and do what YOU want in life that you enjoy and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t.
"Enjoy life we don’t have don’t have as much time as you think."
