Cardiff Castle visitor captures 'what looks like woman with no face' on video as she films empty corridor

A ghostly figure has been captured on the phone of a woman exploring the old tunnels beneath Cardiff Castle. Emily Price had been visiting the capital's historic landmark with her husband earlier this month when she caught sight of something she could not explain.

"I’m not saying I believe in ghosts but I saw something weird at Cardiff Castle early this morning," she tweeted. "We rushed down to see if there was anything there afterwards and the corridor was empty."

The eerie footage shows a white shape appear at the bottom of a long corridor before stopping for a second and then disappearing from view again. Emily described it was looking like "a woman, with no face... who was wearing a grey and white dress"

With some of the tunnels which run underneath its streets dating back to the 13th century Cardiff is a perfect hotspot for potential supernatural sightings. For example the city's original jail was a horrific place housed within the walls and dungeons of the castle itself.

It was believed to be so awful and rife with disease that prisoners who became ill were said to have "the dreaded gaol fever". Dozens of deaths were recorded there with many having spent their last days in thumb screws and shackled in irons.

Mass graves were also found in the city centre in the 1960s. Mechanical diggers brought in to start work on the Capital Tower – Cardiff's first high-rise building – uncovered the gory throwback thought to be from the time of the Black Death.
