Cardiff 10K runners to receive refund as organisers respond to backlash over cancelled event

Runners who entered the Cardiff 10K race are to receive a refund after the event was cancelled, organisers have said. Cardiff 10K and 2K Fun Run had been planned for September 4 but will now no longer take place, it was announced last week.

The organisers of the event, Front Runner Events, said delivering the event had "proven far more challenging than anticipated" due to circumstances beyond their control. They initially said that a virtual event would be held instead, with no refunds to be offered to runners who had already paid.

However, Front Runner released a further statement to runners on Monday (August 8) stating that it will no longer be staging the virtual event as it said "it is clear that there is no appetite to participate" and that the run will be cancelled in its entirety. It added that it will begin the process of refunding runners who have entered the Cardiff 10K since November 2021.
