Cardi B weighs in on Ukraine and Russia as she fears 'world is in crisis'

Cardi B has weighed in on the escalating crisis between Ukraine and Russia.

The US rapper took to Twitter to offer her thoughts on the political situation after being asked what she “thinks about this whole Russia thing”.

She told her 21.8 million followers: “Wish these world leaders stop tripping about power and really think about whose really getting affected (citizens).

“The whole word is in a crisis. War, sanctions, invasions, should be the last thing these leaders should worry about.”

Surprised at her response, some fans though the Bodak Yellow singer’s phone had been hacked, with one writing: “Okay pass Cardi her phone back now.”

This prompted Cardi to post a one-minute video message to her Twitter account insisting “my phone is not hacked, it’s really me”.

The mum-of-two continued: “I actually want to say a lot of things but I’m just going to mind my business because sometimes I feel like I have such a big platform that if I don’t say the right things, I might get killed.

“But I’m really not on NATO’s side, I’m not on Russia’s side. I’m actually on the citizen’s side, because at the end of the day, the world is having a crisis right now.

“There’s inflation, not only in America, but everywhere in the world. It’s really hard to get the economy back up .There is so much shipments backed up.

“China’s not really messing with us so a lot of things are behind, a lot of goods are behind – and this s*** just made it way more complicated.

“So I’m just really annoyed by this, and I really wish all the world leaders right now would just really come up with a logical conclusion, but whatever.”

Outspoken Cadi has never been one to shy away from talking about her political opinions.

She even had a sit down interview with Joe Biden in 2020 before he became US President.

“I want black people to stop getting killed and no justice for it. I’m so tired of it,” she told him.

“I just want laws that are fair to black citizens and that are fair for cops too. If you kill somebody who doesn’t have a weapon on them, you go to jail.

“You know what? If I kill somebody, I’ve got to go to jail. You gotta go to jail too. That’s what I want.”

Cardi also became involved in a public spat with conservative US commentator Candace Owens.

The right wing activist called the Grammy-winning rapper “illiterate” and an “embarrassment to black people” following her interview with Biden.

When the 29-year-old caught wind of her comments she was quick to respond, saying it was because of her widespread influence that Biden did the sit down with her.

In another social media video, she hit back: “It’s no secret I use my platform to encourage people to vote.

“I have millions of followers. I pay millions in taxes. I have the Number One song in the country. Just like I can make millions of people pop their p**** (to her music), I can make millions of people go out and vote.”

Condemning Owens for her support of Donald Trump, Cardi blasted her for “getting pimped out by white men”.

She added: “I don’t know what black man broke your heart... that you hate your kind so much... I honestly feel sorry for you.”

Cardi’s political comments has led to fans calling for her to run for US president.

“Cardi for President. Her slogan could be “WAP not WAR,” one fan wrote in reference to her song of the same name.
